Sports in Pakistan

Sports in Pakistan

Pakistan is a country situated in South Asia. It is famous because of its cricket team while its national game is hockey. Hockey, Football, Tennis, squash and Basketball are also played here but cricket is most famous of all. Young & old love cricket very much. Here I would like to describe briefly about these games.

Hockey

Hockey is a mostly ignored game in Pakistan. Pakistan hockey board is the weakest board of all.PHB(Pakistan Hockey Board) is not funded properly as cricket board. Our hockey team players are living in miserable condition. They all are living from hand to mouth. Our hockey has a glorious past. We have won all titles in hockey. Between 1956 and 1986, Pakistan recorded extraordinary conquests which are still unmatched. During this period Pakistan won Olympic and World Cup crowns. The Asian Games title was won six-time and the Champions Trophy in the first two years of its inauguration. Pakistan also has a woman hockey team. Pakistan woman hockey team is still thriving and making its way to the international level.

Cricket

Cricket is the most famous game of all the game.PCB(Pakistan cricket board) is the richest board of all. In Pakistan, cricket players are treated like heros. No doubt they are heros because they have told the world we are second to none. Our cricket team has won many titles, like the World Cup in 1992 in the leadership of our present prime minister Mr  Imran Khan. Many time our team won the Asia Cup and Champion Trophy. Our T20 team has also won the T20 World Cup. Pakistan cricket has given great name to world cricket. Imran Khan, Waseem Akram, Waqar Younis, Younis khan, Saeed Anwer, Aamir Sohail, Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razaq and Rameez Raja all these are our living legends and recent past. Nowadays we have nice players in our team, Muhammad Aamir, Muhammad Sarfraz, Babur Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Hassan Ali and Abdul Hafeez, many more others are playing very well and representing the country.

Our enemy tried his best to destroy our cricket in the recent past but finally, after more than ten years we have brought it back. Every year we have been held in the most famous event of PSL(Pakistan Super League) Since the last five years. It is declared the greatest cricket fair by Pakistan cricket board.

Squash

Pakistan is the country of talented people. It has a great past in Squash also. Once we have the title of world champion. Jahangir Khan and Jan Sher Khan are the names of our great squash players. They have brightened the name of the country and now it is facing much more problems in the country. Let hope for the best soon.

Football

There is a lot of talent in Pakistan. We have talented players in our country but lack of resources is the main hindrance of the way to progress. There are a lot of players in Baluchistan and Sindh. These players need attention at national and international level. We should hope for the best in the future.

Sports & our govt

Our govt should take steps to generate resources for these games. Govt should announce a talent hunt program throughout the country. Rural areas player should be brought forward. The fact is that talent in rural areas is more than urban areas. In this way, we would be able to utilize our youth in the best way. This is the only way to save our young generation from destruction. Govt should monitor all the boards so that favour and fear should not make its way in the selection of players and officials.

Let hope for the best incoming years.
